Assile Toufaily has just turned 20. She is a midfielder from the Stars Academy for Sports club and she plays with the Lebanese National Women’s Football Team. Yet the journey to becoming a young female football player has never been easy. Assile and many other women like her chose to believe in themselves and pursue their passions. They refuse to be taken away by the gender discrimination they face in their society, especially when it comes to women playing sports.
In this video (in Arabic), Assile sends a message to all the young women out there to trust their capabilities and to know that with practice, everything can be possible, because nothing can – or should – stop any woman from fulfilling her dreams.
This video was produced by Abaad, an association member of NET-MED Youth in Lebanon that aims to achieve gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region.
