A sports journalism training course supported by NET-MED Youth will benefit 10 students from Yarmouk University, addressing the commercial, political and cultural importance of sport and its unifying role in fostering dialogue between nations. It will aim to increase the confidence of aspiring sports journalists in providing a fast and informed reporting service without sacrificing accuracy and balance. It will also help them find unusual angles and features to complement their core sports coverage.
The training, delivered by senior and specialized journalists, will offer intensive class and field training in written, radio and new media reporting of sport, as well as the opportunity to meet and interview athletes and representatives of the sports sector in Jordan. The integration of social media will form a core component of the training, giving participants useful tools required to work in today’s evolving newsrooms. One day will be dedicated to sport values and ethics, issues related to race, gender, sports and data and emerging media.
